What this Fix is for

The Launch Fix is a K–3 PE arrival warm-up for the minutes when students are entering the gym, spreading out and getting ready to move. Instead of waiting for a full verbal explanation, the screen starts with a simple travel movement, changes the move on a short timer and builds a visible Launch Meter toward the finish.

How it works in a real PE class

Choose the grade band, warm-up length, surprise-event frequency and sound setting. Students enter, join the loop and copy the current movement. Short surprise events briefly change the action, and teacher-choice moments let you choose the next movement without stopping the whole class for a new explanation.

Good arrival conditions

  • Students can see the screen from the movement space.
  • The travel direction is clear before the first student joins.
  • Safe spacing matters more than speed.
  • The end cue sends students directly to the PE meeting spot.

Why it is an arrival routine, not just a warm-up

The first few minutes of PE often disappear into waiting: shoes, late arrivals, equipment questions and repeated “start jogging” reminders. The Launch Fix gives early arrivals something clear to do while still allowing the teacher to greet students and solve setup issues.

When to simplify it

For Kindergarten or a crowded gym, choose the shorter duration and lower event frequency. If the room is already highly activated, use walking, marching and controlled locomotor patterns rather than turning the opening minute into a race.

Run it well

A PE warm-up should organize the room while it warms the body.

The Launch Fix is most useful when students can join without waiting for everyone else. The routine absorbs staggered arrival and finishes at a common meeting point.

Set the travel path

Point out direction and boundaries before the first start. A visible route prevents the warm-up from becoming traffic.

Choose control first

Especially with K–1, start with movements students can perform safely while scanning the space around them.

Use teacher choice sparingly

The choice moment is a quick adjustment, not a new lesson. Pick and keep the loop moving.

Land at the meeting spot

The final cue should solve the next transition too: warm bodies, then straight to the place where instructions begin.
