Run it well
Five minutes of practice is different from five minutes of correction.
The Fixes Program is the core 180-day behaviour-practice system. Instead of waiting for listening, directions, waiting, calm body, respect or responsibility to fail in the middle of a lesson, the class gets short planned practice with the behaviour before it is needed under pressure.
The six Fixes are broad enough to matter but narrow enough to practise. A class can rehearse what waiting looks like without also solving every possible behaviour issue.
Five minutes is deliberate. Behaviour practice should fit inside the school day rather than becoming another subject competing for time.
The practice earns its value when a teacher can reference it in the real moment: “Use the waiting Fix,” instead of rebuilding the expectation from scratch.
The system is about rehearsal and transfer. Students are practising a skill, not collecting points for being the kind of child adults prefer.
