Why this exists

The problem is real.
So is the Fix.

The hidden timer keeps the pace unpredictable, while the optional comeback system keeps benched students watching because a Second Chance, Clean Slate or Team Rescue can return them to play.

THE PROBLEM

You have time to fill, but not time to invent a game.

Students keep passing while a silent randomized timer runs. When the screen flashes HOT, tap the student holding the classroom-safe object.

THE FIX

Let the screen handle the mechanics.

A fast whole-class passing game with a hidden random timer, a two-strike bench system, survival scoring and optional comeback events that can bring benched players back into play.

“The hidden timer creates immediate suspense.”

Teacher use guide

Keep the pass controlled—and keep the bench hopeful.

Hot Potato Fix is a fast whole-class passing game. The first HOT is a warning, the second benches the current holder, and optional comeback events can pull benched players back into the game so elimination does not automatically mean the fun is over.

Use one safe object

Choose a soft classroom-safe object and keep the route simple. The challenge comes from the hidden timer, not from risky throws.

Keep Comebacks on for inclusion

After players reach the bench, the game can trigger Second Chance, Clean Slate or Team Rescue events. They are intentionally unpredictable, so a benched player still has a reason to watch.

Know the strike loop

First HOT means one strike and the player stays in. Second HOT benches that player. The screen tracks strikes, bench status, survival points and any comeback returns.

Let the suspense do the work

You do not need to force a comeback. Eligible comeback checks begin only after the bench exists and enough rounds have passed, so some games will stay tense for a while before anyone returns.
