Why this Fix exists
The problem is real. So is the Fix.
The race format is a class favourite, but repeating the same scenery begins to feel predictable.
What actually happens
The familiar six colour lanes return in a canyon circuit. Set up the class as usual, run the race and use the finish to celebrate the group’s practice. No separate student sign-in or extra equipment is necessary.
What the teacher does
Choose a routine that needs one clear rehearsal today, such as a cleaner transition or a faster shared setup. Explain the success condition first. The race is a shared celebration after the practice, not a substitute for directions.
What students see
Six colours. Nobody is out.
Six colour racers on one projected track, standings on screen the whole time, and a 3-2-1 countdown to start. After each race the last colour joins the Pit Crew and powers one visible comeback boost, so no team is ever “out.” With three racers left it becomes the Medal Round, then the Final.
Racing is fair and visible: every racer has the same base pace, and the only boosts are the dashed slipstream lines and the Pit Crew boost students can see.
If it goes sideways
Quick fixes for common snags.
- Cheering gets too loud: restate the Classroom Cup goal out loud. The Cup is judged on behaviour, never on who won, so the class can still earn it.
- A team is upset about finishing last: point to the Pit Crew panel. Their colour is still powering the comeback.
Exit cleanly: crown the champion, then decide CUP EARNED or KEEP PRACTISING together in under a minute. Name the next activity before you press Reset. The canyon scenery is decoration only; it never changes the racing.
